What should I revise for English 3AC semester 2?

Use your teacher's completed units as the starting point. The Focus pathway includes topics such as sport, environment, hobbies, transport, health, celebrations and holidays here. Spotlight 3 has a different topic order, including celebrations, inventions and the future. Do not combine the two pathways as if both were required.

Review the language in useful situations: tell a short past visit, give simple school advice, explain a future plan and ask about an experience. The website's semester allocation is a revision aid, not a replacement for the class programme.

A travel sketch, school exercise book and weekly planner suggest past experience and future plans.
Separate a finished past event, experience and a future plan before choosing the verb form.

Which forms need careful checking?

Use past simple for a finished event: We went to the library yesterday. In a question, write Did you go?, not Did you went? For past be, use was with I/he/she/it and were with you/we/they.

Use should + base verb for advice: You should check your answer. Must can express a strong obligation; mustn't means an action is prohibited. Don't have to means it is not necessary, which is different from prohibition. Keep the meaning clear before choosing a word.

Finished past: I visited Rabat last year. Experience: I have never visited that exhibition. Future possibility: I might join the club.
Choose the form that matches the situation.

How can I compare experience and future meaning?

Have you ever visited Rabat? asks about experience. I visited it last year gives a finished date and uses past simple. For the future, I'm going to revise gives an intention, while I might join the club keeps the choice uncertain. Will can give an offer, decision or prediction in an appropriate context.

Try the mixed exercises and group mistakes by topic. Reopen the full lesson for any rule you cannot explain. Finish by writing a short past account and a separate future plan, rather than memorising a single paragraph for every task.

A worked example

A visit and a future plan

I visited Rabat last year and saw a museum. I have never visited the science exhibition in my town. I am going to go there with my class next month. I might write a report afterwards, but I have not decided yet.

  1. Last year gives a finished past time.
  2. Have never visited describes experience without a finished date.
  3. Going to gives a plan; might keeps the report uncertain.
Advice: You should check your answer. Prohibition: You mustn't run in the library. Not necessary: You don't have to buy a book.
These forms do not all express the same strength or meaning.
