Study skills: reading a timetable

Day09:0010:00
MondayEnglishMathematics
TuesdayScienceArabic
WednesdayHistoryEnglish
Invented practice timetable, not a real school schedule.

Find the day row and follow it to the requested time column. English is at 09:00 on Monday and 10:00 on Wednesday. If you check only one coordinate, you may choose the correct subject on the wrong day.

Skills work: reading the club message

Welcome to Al Amal English Club. Our meeting is in Room 4 on Wednesday at 10:00. Room 4 is upstairs. It is not the library. The library is on the ground floor. Our notebooks are blue, and our club poster is green. The first activity is a word game. Please bring a pencil.

Underline the place, circle the time and mark the requested object. If a question asks what to bring, answer a pencil. A mentioned object, such as the poster, is not automatically the requested object.

Skills work: listening for not

A partner reads twice: “The meeting is not in Room 3. It is in Room 4. The poster is green, not blue.” Look away and write the correct room and colour. Listen for not: the script contains both an error and its correction.

Writing and communication: describe a school place

Start a paragraph with This is our library. Add a location, two positive details and a correction. For example: It is upstairs. The books are on the shelves. It is not our classroom. Use an invented school and a subject you enjoy. Include please and thank you when practising a request for help.

Review: check agreement

  • Give two negative sentences with be.
  • Ask about one room and several books.
  • Answer a question addressed to you using I.
  • Locate Tuesday at 10:00 in the timetable.
