How do I revise school and food before an English 1AC test?
Practise finding a subject, day, time and meal detail in a short text. Then check have/has got, there is/are and question words. Finish with a focused paragraph about lunch or a school day, and explain your corrections instead of only copying the answers.

Prepare a revision session with three parts
Use have got consistently for a lunch bag or timetable. Say We've got English on Monday and I've got an apple. Use there is/are to describe a classroom. Match What, When and Where to an object or subject, a time, and a place.
A practice test can combine comprehension, language and writing. On the first attempt, leave the corrections closed. On the second, explain one mistake in each part and rewrite a corrected sentence. The suggested session is informal practice; it is not an official exam or national marking scheme.
Reading, language and writing checks
| Part | Task | Review action |
|---|---|---|
| Comprehension | Locate a day, a time or an object. | Underline evidence. |
| Language | Choose the correct verb and question word. | Explain the rule. |
| Writing | Describe lunch or a school day. | Check capitals and punctuation. |
Read a Tuesday school-and-lunch text

Read and explain this example
On Tuesday, our class has got English at nine. There are twenty students in our room. After the lesson, we eat lunch in the courtyard. I've got a sandwich, an apple and water. My friend has got rice and an orange. We haven't got PE today.
Use an error to choose the next exercise
A useful review ends with a reason. If you change There is twenty students to There are twenty students, explain that students is plural. If you change when to where, explain that the answer names a place. This small explanation tests whether the correction has made sense. On a later attempt, change the names, numbers or day so that you have to use the rule again rather than recall the same answer sequence.

Remember
Read has got with a singular subject and have got with a plural one. Our class is treated as one group in this text. The pronoun we takes have got.
Step by step
Put the idea into practice
- Read the text and attempt the three parts with answers closed.
- Give a text clue or grammar reason for each correction.
- Rewrite the paragraph and check only one feature at a time.
